Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Area is one of the largest natural areas in Martin County. At just over 21, 000 acres, this preserve allows you to get out into the wilderness whether you are hiking, biking, horseback riding, or camping. Make sure you check out the website to explore the recreational and trail maps. For hiking, there are three main trailheads- Cottage Road in the northeast quadrant on the north side of 714 and the two Fox Brown trailheads in the southwest quadrant. At the northern trail system, you will see predominantly pine flatwoods, wet prairie and wetland marshes and off of Fox Brown there is a mixture of open pasture and hardwood forests.

Amenities at this site include:

  • Parking areas
  • Picnic tables at the two Fox Brown entrances
  • Interpretive signs and maps at Cottage Rd and two Fox Brown trailheads
  • Room for horse trailers at both Fox Brown trailheads.
  • Primitive camping at Cottage Rd.
  • Dog Friendly- Please follow the rules of BARK Ranger
