Join us for a fun FREE volunteer opportunity helping out in our native plant nursery!
*Great way to earn volunteer hours for school, scholorships, or other community service requirements!*
Our volunteer activity this Stewardship Sunday will be collecting native plant seeds from around the preserve, specifically mangrove propagules, native grasses, and wildflower seeds. If time allows, we’ll spend time potting and planting mangrove propagules in our native plant nursery!
No previous experience is required, all are welcome!
Prior registration for this event is appreciated but not required, and walk-ins are welcome if space allows. All necessary tools and supplies will be provided by The Nature Conservancy.
All youths under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Recommended for ages 8 and up.
Be sure to come prepared for the Florida heat and bugs by bringing a refillable water bottle, sun protection, and bug spray if necessary. This activity will involve walking on uneven, sandy terrain, so please wear appropriate footwear.
Participants should plan to gather on the porch outside the Hawley Education Center between 9:45 and 10:00 AM for volunteer check-in before the activity begins.
