The Martin County Office of Tourism & Marketing is thrilled to announce that we received five coveted 2024 Magellan Awards, solidifying our standing as a top destination for eco-friendly adventures and cultural experiences. In total, the Tourism Office earned four Gold Magellan Awards and one Silver Magellan Award.
Gold Recognition:
- In-Destination Visitor Information Program (United States – Overall Destinations): “Explore Natural Martin Ecotourism Program”
Martin County’s eco-friendly efforts continue to lead the way in promoting sustainable tourism, with Explore Natural Martin making it easier than ever for visitors to experience the area’s natural beauty while learning about what makes the area so special. - Advertising/Marketing Campaign (Destination Marketing): “Explore Natural Martin Campaign”
This comprehensive, multifaceted marketing campaign highlighted the unmatched eco-adventures available in Martin County and included a strategic mix of print and digital ads, social media content, public relations efforts, award-winning videos, content marketing, and more. - Eco-Friendly Sustainable Destination (Overall Destinations): “Martin County, Florida”
Martin County was recognized for its ongoing dedication to preserving local ecosystems, educating people on the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace, and responsibly promoting local eco-friendly hotels, experiences, attractions, businesses, and organizations. - Advertising/Marketing Campaign (Destination Marketing): “Sea Where Art Takes You Campaign”
The vibrant “Arts in Martin” campaign included a brand-new microsite paired with beautiful print and digital ads highlighting the dynamic arts and cultural scene in Martin County, including local museums, attractions, galleries, public art installations, events, and more.
Silver Recognition:
- Cultural/Arts (United States – Overall Destinations): “Martin County, Florida”
The “Sea Where Art Takes You” campaign blended the local artistic, cultural, and coastal heritage of the area, resulting in Martin County being named one of the top cultural/arts destinations in the United States.
“These revered awards reflect the hard work and dedication of our team and community partners,” said Nerissa Okiye, Tourism Director of the Martin County Office of Tourism & Marketing. “We are honored to be recognized for our ongoing sustainability efforts, cultural initiatives, and innovative marketing campaigns, which have all been focal points in our mission to elevate Martin County as a destination for all types of travelers.”
Organized annually by Travel Weekly, the Magellan Awards honor outstanding design, marketing, and services in the global travel industry across a range of key segments, including Airlines and Airports, Cruise Lines, Travel Destinations, Hospitality, Travel Services, Travel Advisor/Agency, Tour Operators, and Ground Transportation. Hundreds of entries are judged and overseen by an esteemed panel of top travel professionals that represent the most accomplished authorities in the industry.
Other destinations recognized in the 2024 Magellan Awards include Visit Rhode Island, New Orleans & Company, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the Malta Tourism Authority, and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. Winners from the other travel segments included Delta Airlines, Celebrity Cruises, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, and additional industry leaders.
